There's something about water that's soothing to watch. In fact, not far from where I live, the Charles River feeds into a 2,000 acre pond and continues its tireless trek toward the Atlantic about 50 miles away.
I love to get up each morning and just walk the 1/2 mile to the lake and just watch. I like painting waterfalls so real you'd swear you can hear the thunder of the falls as the water cascades over the cliff to the rocks below. On weekends I like to wander along the shores of Cape Cod or Rhode Islands and feel the surf rushing up over my feet. Water. It's such a beautiful experience and it is these experiences we like to capture on canvas. This is an excellent video in which beginners can learn the basic techniques even if they've never painted before, or even so much as held a paint brush. It is on DVD-R and is over 2-hours long.
